The fifth chakra is the throat chakra and is called Vishudda in early Sanskrit. It is at a point in the middle of the throat. The energy from this chakra flows out of the front, just under the jaw and in addition a little less intensely from rear of the neck.
The main purpose of this chakra is that of speech, communication and expression. The throat chakra represents a will to communicate harmoniously that which is within oneself to others and the use of that energy in a creative way.
With a fully activated throat chakra speech can come with ease and there is a willingness to communicate with other people..If you are having throat problems, loosing your voice or general neck problems then it is likely that you have the throat chakra not open to it fullest.
Turquoise blue is the main color connected with this chakra. {Its element is the ether and the related metal is MercuryThe metal is Mercury and its associated element is ether}. The principle gem stone for this chakra Turquoise. The stone turquoise consists of two colors, both green and blue and this represents the spiritual, heaven (sky blue) and the earthly green of the planet. That is the main idea around this chakra. The gemstone helps us to express ourselves and to share spiritual information which can be integrated into our material lives. As well as increasing both psychic and spiritual communication it can also assist with communication in general.
When the throat chakra is balanced, the psychological aspects show as a development of artistic talent and elevated spirituality. The psychological elements of the throat chakra when it is blocked can be obsession, repression of speech, creative blocks and not being able to express yourself.
You can visualize a sphere of turquoise light surrounding the chakra whilst listening to meditation music in the key of A so as to balance this chakra yourself. Imagine as you meditate that there is a blue lotus flower with 16 petals gradually opening and rotating as your chakra becomes unblocked. This 16 petalled turquoise lotus flower is represented in the Sanskrit Mandala for the chakra.
