Reiki and Me
Firstly I would like to give you some insight into how I discovered Reiki, and then a little about my journey into Reiki so far, and my Reiki level 1 Attunement.
I have always been very interested in the spiritual side to life, and have always believed that we were all born for a purpose and that purpose what ever it is we will carry it out regardless of our beliefs.
Having been born to a Catholic family (Mum, Dad, elder brother, and younger sister), I was brought up as the Catholic Church state that a Catholic child should be brought up. I was taught form a very early age that I should attend church regularly “every Sunday” and on Holy Days of Obligation in fact I actually became an alter boy at 1 point (and no! nothing untoward happened). It was at this young and tender age I had my first real spiritual “I would call encounters” although at the time I maybe didn’t understand what I was feeling, or experiencing. Up until I was about 11 I followed what my loving mum “Ann”. (God rest her as she sadly passed in 1999) had instilled in me; I went to church on a Sunday, and helped with the “Tote” a sort of raffle run by the church when I was young, I would take the tickets and collect the monies form the parishioners, and if they were lucky enough to have won I would deliver there winnings.
My beautiful mum started a regular job in 1979 were she worked 3 nights per week caring for the Physical and Mentally disabled, and the 3 nights she worked spanned the weekend and included Sunday night; as a result she would rest during Sunday after and for her next nights work. It was at this time my church attendance began to wane and eventually stopped, along with most of my acknowledgment of spirituality.
I became 1 of the popular chaps around had lots of friends, and as a result got in lots of bother too “typical young lad” as once a famous Solicitor of Liverpool told my mum.
At the very young age my partner “Lyn 18″ and I “19″ we had our first of 3 sons; talk about a steep learning curve, still a mere boy “although i didn’t believe so at the time”, my beautiful wife and I grew up very quickly, with a lot of support form immediate family, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins too.
Having had spiritual experiences at a young age, at the age of 12 I lost my cousin “Tony” in a horrific car accident at the age of just 16 it was this event in my young life that later would have me revisit my early experiences of spirituality. I began driving in not the best way possible, I was a young lad “1 of the boys” so too speak, and after receiving learners license proceeded to have my first car accident, which to mine and others amazement I came out completely unhurt not even as much as a scratch, and ever since this I have always been aware that my cousin was then, and is always around me when I am in my car.
Having become even more interested now, in spirituality and what are often called “Ghosts or Spirits”, I was recommended through a friend to visit a medium; a lovely lady “Pat” from Liverpool. After an amazing reading and just as I was about to leave, Pat received a final message and relayed it to me “Paul” she said “the spirits are telling me that you have Healing Hands, and that you should look into Reiki”. At this stage I may or may not have heard of Reiki, but at the time I didn’t know what Reiki was. I returned home, and after the tirade of questions from my wife and sons about the reading, I sat down at this computer and began researching. A couple of days later close friends of ours Kevin and Carolyn visited, and knowing that I had been to see Pat, they dually asked how I had gotten on. It was at this point I was too begin my journey with Reiki.
Carolyn whom both Lyn and I had known for about a year had been visiting a lovely lady Reiki Ann for Reiki treatments; and was booked in with Reiki Ann for her Reiki level 1 Attunements. I asked Carolyn if she could ask Ann if it was possible for me to do my Reiki 1 Attunements also. I met with Ann a couple of weeks later, and received my first Reiki treatment, and on the following Sunday I received my Reiki 1 introduction and Attunements. And so my journey began.
